Nestled on a hillside above our Trailside Cottage, this cottage offers spectacular views of the river, and is more private being nestled at the top of the hill along a treeline. The oversized screened in porch provides views of the bluffs and the river. The kingsized bed is loaded with pillows and Tommy Bahama bedding for an elegant and restful night's sleep. The oversized chairs and the adjustable smart tv are perfect for settling in for a good movie.
The cottage's proximity to the river, and the historic Katie trail are perfect for those who want to get away from it all and enjoy bicycling or hiking or fishing along the Missouri River. Just a 15 minute walk from Cooper's Landing, where there is a campground, food trucks and live music during the spring, summer and fall seasons, you can enjoy a night out with beautiful sunset views of the river.
Our favorite time of year at the river is winter. There are fewer people, making winter hikes along the trail filled with wildlife and quiet solitude. Just a few minutes south along the trail from our cottage is an historic marker of a campsite for Lewis and Clark as they went up the Missouri in the 1800's.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a RURAL area. You will see wildlife - including deer, fox, coyotes, ground hogs, hawks, opossums, raccoons and the occasional armadillo. You will also encounter neighborhood dogs. There is no leash law in the county. All the local dogs are very friendly. Remi is a black lab who lives across the street. He loves to visit new people in the cottage, and will most likely bring a stick, turn three times, sit and bark until you throw the stick. If you do not want him around, go inside for 15-20 minutes and he will run off to the next shiny new thing. Please do not call his owner. Remi will return home after making his rounds. While the county is off leash - the Katy Trail requires leashes as it is a state park, and there are runners, biker riders, and other dogs will likely be on the trail as well.
